Haha, I genuinely thought Lucas should have played tonight.

Still, terrible ref, terrible play by our reserves, none of them had the game in mind, they all went out to try and impress. Degen needs to learn to pass.

On the plus side, Insua's goal was quality, and Aquilani was fairly impressive, some good touches and fairly good shots on target.

Only the Carling Cup at the end of the day, a "big 4" team shouldn't be concerned about that...

Unfortunately that is the case with the top four.
I support Arsenal and I think every trophy is worth going all out for. Don't get me wrong, I like watching the youth of our team play, but to a point it gets silly. Especially if it's a big game, like it has been the past 2 seasons.
Outclassed by tottenham in a semi final last year, who knows wha tis year. Wenger needs to concenrate on all trophies, no matter if it's a 'big' one or not.

Take the pieces and build them skywards.

Oh yeah, I mean, as a Liverpool fan, this season is so far looking just about the FA cup unless we get our act together, unfortunately.

I think with regards to youth teams, it's almost an unwritten rule that the big 4 put a youth side out in this competition, so even if tonight was a big game, its not like it was big guns vs youth team.

That said, although it's good that big teams play youth sides out gives the lower sides a chance to contest a trophy, but at the same time I think every team should see every trophy as important, I mean, it is still silverware after all.

Still, Arsenal played well, promising bunch of youngsters there, although I was more concerned with watching Aquilani's every move toward the end of the game.

Merdia and Insua's goals were both top quality though.

^ Why the big laugh? I'm not saying he was biased, for starters Skrtel should have been sent off and a penalty given when he floored... Can't remember his name now, and he generally missed a fair few free kicks for both sides. He had no effect on the final score though, just an observation.

Not so funny now you've realized I'm not trying to use it as an excuse, is it?

Where's that Israeli lad when you need him?

Alcorcon 4 - 0 Real Madrid.

Hahahaha.

Edit: And just incase you thought Madrid put out a side of 16yr old reserves, they didn't. Team looked like this:
Dudek
Arbeloa
Metzelder
Albiol
Drenthe
Diarra
Granero
Guti
Van der Vaart
Benzema
Raśl

Oh and Van Nistelrooy came on as well.

According to Charlie on Soccer Saturday, Benitez took Torres off after an hour while it was 1-1, and he wasn't injured. Bizarre decision.

Then takes off Benayoun, arguably the most dangerous player after torres?

He's gone insane.

Lierpool fans can't be happy with most of his decisions.

What a great result for Portsmouth though! Unbelievable.
