I'm not too sure how a 15 min orchestra, Matt singing in French, Clarinet solo, all the diversity between rock and electric sounds, which is all self produced, is less extravagant then the other albums.
+1
Sounds pretty damn extravagant to me.

Not to mention the resurrection of Freddie Mercury.
Yeah, that too. Obviously I haven't heard a second of the album, but I cant imagine by the small reviews, what Muse has said, all the things the album will consist of, the titles of the songs! oh and that it is Muse, and they never seem to disappoint!

and i think the idea of matt singing french is great! i really look foward to it.

"Matt Bellamy sings some verses in french. Almost incomprehensible."
lol, that means the french person can't understand what he's singing - must be a bad accent! lol

Cmon people. The review is nonobjective shit. That man is obviously not a "MUSE guy". He don't have a clue. He's hung up on Queen and Chopin.
Though Great new info on album, e.g. timing

Seeing as I can read French, ive made a better Translation based off the original text found here http://blogs.lexpress.fr/judebox/2009/07/jai-ecoute-le-nouveau-muse.php
01. « Uprising » 5 :02
Matt bellamy's voice is deeper than usual. In terms of lyrics, its the usual Muse: conspiracies, apocalypse, he announces a gathering, speaks of victory and that "they will not control us." The sound, still very dense and heavy is accompanied by passages of synths. The overall structure is rather straightforward.
02. « Resistance » 5 :46
Opening in Piano, cavalcade of drums. You could swear that Freddi Mercury participated in the chorus
03. « Undisclosed Desires » 3 :56
A sound very reminiscent of Depeche Mode hovers over this piece without guitars but with vocoder laced vocals
04. « United States Of Eurasia » (+ Collateral Damage) 5 :47
Bohemian Rapsody (Queen) + Lawrence of Arabie (la score of Maurice Jarre)+ Chopin =A long cinémato-classic-rock trip
Matt Bellamyhas returned to his falsetto. The song ends on a sound of a plane taking off (Space ship? Missile taking off?)
05. « Guiding Light » 4 :13
Return of the guitar solo. One of the defining features of the pompous style of Muse
06. « Unnatural Selection »
Opens with Church Organs before the arrical of the drums and the powerful guitars. An epic and lyrical song.
07. « MK Ultra »
Lots of electronics and bodybuilder like riffs. (meaning very very powerful?)
08. « I Belong To You » (+ Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix)
A title borrowed from the opera Samson and Dalila. A surprising delayed rythm. Clarinette arrives at the end of the song. Matt sings a few verses in French...very hard to understand.
09. « Exogenesis : Symphony Part I » (Overture)
10. « Exogenesis : Symphony Part II » (Cross Pollination)
11. « Exogenesis : Symphony Part III » (Redemption)
Matts voice is very reminiscent of Thom Yorke here. This symphonie would almost pass for the guilty pleasure of a star with a passion for the romantic composers such as Chopin and Liszt...
Hope that helps

EDIT: ****Really sorry, didn't see someone had done the exact same thing when I posted this****
Hey everyone, figured I'd shove the untranslated version through an online translator to see if we can compare and contrast or get any different results for some of the more unclear parts of the above interview...hope this helps! (Admittedly, some of these translations are worse, but if nothing else, this could clear up the controversy of Undisclosed Desires; this translation does state it is vocal only, no guitar.)
01. " Uprising " 5 :02
The voice of Matt Bellamy more serious, more came back than ordinarily. Side word, they stay in the same vein: conspiracy, apocalypse... He announces a "union", speaks about "win", that ' " they will not control us ". The sound, always very heavy and dense, is accompanied by synthetic rises. The structure of the piece remains simple for time.
02. " Resistance " 5 :46
Entered Piano, cavalcade of battery. They would swear that Freddie Mercury participates in choruses.
03. " Undisclosed Desires " 3 :56
The matt and metallic sound of Depeche Mode glides over this piece without guitar but in vocodée voice.
04. "United States Of Eurasia" (Collateral Damage) 5 :47)
Bohemian Rapsody (Queen) Lawrence d' Arabie) (OH WELL of Maurice Jar) Chopin = a trip cinémato-classico-rock long
Matt Bellamy found his falsetto. The piece finishes on the sound of a jet airplane (spaceship? takeoff of a missile?)
05. " Guiding Light " 4 :13
The return of the solo of guitar, one of the trademarks of style firefighter of Muse.
06. "Unnatural Selection"
Open with organs of churches before the arrival of the battery and the powerful guitars. A lyric and epic piece.
07. " Extremist MK "
Electronic tones and riffs bodybuildés.
08. "I Belong To You" (My Heart opens A Ta Voice)
A title borrowed from the opera Samson et Dalila (see lower). An amazing brought forward rhythm. Very as this clarinet which arrives at the end of the piece. Matt Bellamy sings some poetries in French. quasi incomprehensible.
09. « Exogenesis: Symphony Part I » (Overture)
10. « Exogenesis: Symphony Part II » (Cross-country running Pollination)
11. « Exogenesis: Symphony Part III » (Redemption)
The voice of Matt Bellamy reminds of that of Tom Yorke a lot. This symphony would be taken almost for the fad of a star enthralled by the romantic compositors: Chopin, Liszt...
I know overall this isn't a much better translation, but I figured what the heck, maybe someone can make something out of it.
Cheers!

Thanks for that! The original translation didn't make much sense at times.. Seems Matt needs to work on his French :P And vocoder? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

hmm the last comment is it positive or negative? it almost passes for a guilty pleasure... dunno how to interpretate that one
Nice to see these guys are somewhat more criticising the album instead of only saying AMAZINUG AMAZING, but does leave some concerns xD well need to hear it before I can judge :O

Im unsure of a few parts, but im 100% sure that overall it makes more sense than the original posting, lol
Im really excited. I have been ever since hearing that Muse will produce the album themselves.
Im also glad to see several songs over the length of 5 minutes.
Also, apparently the 3 Symphony songs put togher total up 12 minutes and some seconds based on some other French impression I read.

MK Ultra has to be the osaka jam damn it!! BRING ON THE MEATY RIFFS :P :P

It wasnt really said in a negative fashion I think, but I guarantee many critics will accuse Matt of going over the top and losing his mind for doing such a song. Too bad for them this is exactly the type of song Ive been waiting for from Matt for a long time
