from now on when i import cds into my itunes library im gonna import them using the highest quality encoder. thing is i dont know which one. my guess would be WAV. and i didn't add mp3 cause i already know the quality of it.

FLAC doesn't work with iTunes.

With my limited knowledge, AIFF, Apple Lossless, and WAV are all Lossless so it should be the same quality, except Apple Lossless has much smaller filesizes then the other two.

Apple's Lossless sounds damn good, AAC is pretty good if you push the settings to max. If you don't spend more than 100 bucks on headphones AAC is all you'll ever need. Otherwise Apple Lossless or WAV. WAV and Apple Lossless should theoretically sound identical, but there will be minor defects. Just the nature of it.

The average human ear cannot discern changes in quality over 256kbps, so anything above that is a waste of capacity imo. Even in very low bitrate compressions the brain compensates for the lack in quality.
