Muse to Headline Reading & Leeds Festivals

For the third time since 2006, Muse have been confirmed as headliners for the Reading & Leeds festivals in 2017. The rock festivals, which have been running since 1950 (well, Reading at least), are hugely popular, attracting close to 100,000 fans over the course of the August bank holiday weekend.

Festival director, Melvin Benn, has this to say:

"I’m thrilled to be able to announce Muse as the first headliner for Reading and Leeds 2017.

"Their incredible live show promises to be an unforgettable performance - we have so much more to announce and I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line up."

Muse have promised more details on their performance early next year (after their annual Christmas present, maybe?):

"We’re very excited to be playing Reading and Leeds again. More news about our plans for 2017 coming in the new year."

Yeah Bitch! Magnets!

It's finally come to this. Muse are planning to have a stage constructed with Magnets on their next tour. Glen Rowe (Muse's tour manager) was quoted to say:

We want to do a stage made of magnets so the band can levitate on other magnets. It's those questions that keep me awake every night of my life

If you're an expert, get in touch!

If there are any magnet technicians out there, please come and see me because that's what we're trying to achieve.

Muse are well known for their bombast, but is this a step too far? Answers on a postcard, please.

The Drones Tour Has Begun! [SPOILERS]

It all kicked off last night in Mexico City, where Muse played at the Palacio de los Deportes to a crowd of close to 20,000.

Setlist speculation has been rife in the build up to their first gig - Reddit's /u/30SecondsToMercury has done a fantastic job of documenting the details:

Drones (Live Debut)
[Drill Sergeant]
Dead Inside (Morgan on guitar)
Plug In Baby (Extended Outro)
The 2nd Law: Isolated System (Tour Debut)
The Handler
Hysteria ('Back In Black' Riff Outro)
Supermassive Black Hole ('Voodoo Child' Riff Intro)
Apocalypse Please
Munich Jam
Undisclosed Desires (Tour Debut)
Revolt (Live Debut)
Time Is Running Out (Extended Intro)
Uprising (Extended Outro; Morgan on guitar)

-- ENCORE 1 --

The Globalist (Live Debut)

-- ENCORE 2 --

Mercy (Dedicated to Paris)
Knights Of Cydonia (Man With A Harmonica Intro)

Interestingly, Matt did not play the guitar on Dead Inside or Uprising, instead leaving the task to magnificent Morgan.

Let's not speak of the fact that Drones was played twice. Twice, I tell you - I kid thee not.

If that wasn't enough, they'll be doing it all over again tonight!
